Whiteness is not the authority

Today: "Every boss I've ever had has been white. From the moment I got my first job out of college until now. Whiteness is the authority in this nation and has been reinforced in so many ways."

Vision: If I could see more people who looked like me in leadership roles, that would be empowering. When you can relate to the person who's the decision-maker, there's more of a cultural sense of community there, a sense of taking care.

We need to introduce a new idea: that whiteness is not the authority, and not the only option. Once that idea is learned and trusted, it can become a very fertile concept. It would create some self-belief. It would lead to conversations about "What else can we change that needs to change?"
